Press release from St. Joseph Hospital:

Local Attorney Latest Addition to Board of Directors to St. Joseph Hospital

(December 9, 2010) – As a catalyst of central city redevelopment, St. Joseph Hospital continues to draw downtown-focused community leaders to serve on its board of directors. Michael Barranda, an attorney with Burt, Blee, Dixon, Sutton & Bloom, LLP will initially serve a two-year term on St. Joe’s board of directors.

Barranda’s community involvement includes roles such as: president of Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana; board member of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce; president of Notre Dame Alumni Club of Fort Wayne; board member of the Olive B. Cole Foundation. He has also served the community with various organizations such as the Foellinger Foundation, Regional Chamber, Science Central, THR!VE Noble County and Vision 2020.

“I am extremely honored to have been selected to serve on the St. Joseph Hospital Board and I can’t wait to get started,” said Barranda. “Revitalizing the urban core of Ft. Wayne is a strong passion for me. That starts with building a community and St. Joe is the heart of that downtown community.”

Barranda’s talents align nicely with St. Joe’s efforts to continue downtown revitalization through its nearly $10 million in new technology and upgrades over the past two years alone. St. Joe has invested more than $35 million in the hospital over the past seven years. Such on-going capital investments improve the stability of downtown and its ability to sustain high quality, full service healthcare for people who live or work near downtown Fort Wayne.
