Stutzman co-sponsors permanent tax relief

Press release from Indiana 3rd Congressional District Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s office:

Stutzman Co-Sponsors Permanent Tax Relief

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Marlin Stutzman voted against a divisive tax increase bill. “We need to take care of all Americans and not pick and choose. Small business owners need to know that the government will allow them a fair chance to succeed.”

Congressman Stutzman voted against H.R. 4853, this bill, once signed into law, not only creates a tax increase for many small business owners with income of $200,000 or more, penalizing success in a slow or stagnant economy, but does not protect seniors who are dependent on their investments.

Congressman Stutzman signed on today as a co-sponsor to the Pence-DeMint Tax Relief Certainty Act, H.R. 6415 which would make permanent tax relief for all Americans. “Small business owners need a solid and fair playing field, which will lead to job creation.” H.R. 6415 would:

  • Make permanent the 2001 and 2003 individual income tax relief for all hard-working Americans, preserving the 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33% and 35% income tax brackets, rather than allowing President Obama and Democrats to increase the top tax bracket to 39.6% and increase taxes on the lowest earning Americans in the bottom 10% bracket.
  • Permanently repeal the immoral and unfair death tax;
  • Prevent the tax increase on the maximum tax rate on capital gains and dividends income for all Americans, rather than allowing the Democrats to increase the rates to 20% and 39.6% respectively, from the current 15%; and
  • Permanently patch the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) by increasing the AMT exemption.
