Super Shot receives 2010 seasonal flu vaccines
(November 30, 2010) – Super Shot has received injectable seasonal flu vaccine that is suitable for children ages six months through 18 years. The organization also has Flu Mist, which is recommended for healthy children ages two to 18 years of age.
Flu season can occur anytime from November through April. Getting the vaccine now can provide children with immunity from the flu virus during the busy holiday season when we are more likely to come into contact with people who may be infected with the virus.
The flu vaccine and Mist are currently available at all clinic locations. Parents are required to bring their child’s shot record. No appointments are necessary; however, parents who want their child to receive the flu vaccine can call Super Shot at 424-7468 to confirm availability.
It is estimated that each year in the U.S., there are more than 20,000 children younger than five years old hospitalized due to the flu. Anyone who lives with or cares for young children, including siblings and daycare providers, should get vaccinated against flu. Children under six months old are too young to be vaccinated. The best way to protect young children is to be sure household members and caregivers are vaccinated.

Super Shot—a non-profit, non-governmental program—operates an independent reduced cost immunization program ($8 per shot though no one is turned away for inability to pay; Medicaid accepted) that serves children in Allen and surrounding counties with family friendly hours and convenient locations.
