Supercat Santa Helps Stuff the Semi at IPFW
(November 18, 2010) – Move over Santa and make way for Pumpkin Supercat to start some holiday spirit! To raise awareness of the Stuff the Semi
event at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), student Lashay Powers is dressing in her finest Pumpkin Supercat costume and asking the IPFW community and public to help those in need this holiday season.The Stuff the Semi event, sponsored by the Indiana-Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA), will take place Wed. through Fri., Dec. 1 through 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Science Mall parking lot (between Helmke Library and the Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science Building). Donations requested include nonperishable food, toiletries, baby supplies, and winter clothing. For a detailed list, please see below. The proceeds will benefit the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries and the Community Harvest Food Bank of Fort Wayne.
After a one-year pause from the event, IPSGA is revved up to stuff the semi, donated by International Truck and Engine, to benefit those in need this holiday season. In fact, IPSGA members know this event will even affect some of their IPFW student peers who currently are using the Rescue Mission’s services.
“I plan to wear my Pumpkin Supercat costume to spark interest and continue to pass the information around,” said Powers, IPSGA Stuff the Semi Coordinator and 2009-10 Homecoming queen.
“Leaders exist because there will always be people who need help. When people are put first, the universe takes care of the rest,” said Powers.
