I&M customers can use mobile devices to report outages

Press release from Indiana Michigan Power:

I&M customers can use mobile devices to report outages

(November 23, 2010) – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) customers can now use their mobile devices, such as a web-enabled cell phone, iPhone or Android device, to report outages online at IndianaMichiganPower.com.

In addition to reporting outages, customers can use the mobile site to learn the extent of outages in their areas and receive detailed information on major storms. Customers can also find outage safety tips and contact information.

“During a recent major storm, over 13 percent of our web traffic came from mobile devices,” said Eric Davis, user experience supervisor. “We heard from customers who said that during a power outage when their computers were down, their mobile phones still worked, but our site was difficult to use with mobile devices. I&M’s improved mobile site streamlines the outage reporting process, and we hope to offer even more useful features.”
To report a power outage using a mobile device, customers will need to provide their phone number or address.
