Press release from The Volunteer Center:

Operation Military Kids
Want to support our local military families? Become an Operation Military Kid Volunteer

Operation Military Kids is the U.S. Army’s collaborative effort with America’s communities to support children and youth impacted by deployment. Regardless of whether families are experiencing deployment for the first time, the second time or another in a series of multiple deployments, the goal is to connect military children and youth with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community support and enhance their well-being.

Generous volunteers are needed to work with children of active and deployed military. Meetings will take place just prior to time of deployment through the return of their parent. This is a great individual, couple or family volunteering opportunity.

We ask that the volunteers commit to training program and 8 hours of service per year. Volunteer opportunities start in December, 2010. Training and Criminal History Check are mandatory.

Training, Friday, November 19, 2010 from 9 am – 11 am.
