(October 22, 2010) – Morning commuters on Wed., Nov. 3, can pick up a free healthy snack pack on their way to work by driving through the Meijer parking lot at 5909 Illinois Road. In celebration of Start! Eating Healthy Day, PHP employees will be distributing the snack packs from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. to the first 200 people who stop by.

The snack packs will be filled with fruit, water, a 100 calorie snack pack, a healthy holiday eating guide and other Start! material.

The American Heart Association has partnered with PHP and Parkview Health to encourage employees to make healthy eating choices on Wednesday, Nov. 3 – Start! Eating Healthy Day.

Start! Eating Healthy Day signifies the dedication of the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative to the health and wellness of all Americans. It is not only beneficial for your heart to engage in physical activity, but it’s also important to maintain a healthy and well-balanced diet.

Start! Eating Healthy Day encourages you to make small changes each day to incorporate healthier food choices. Through this day, the Start! initiative will increase awareness of the importance of good nutrition; provide education, tools and resources to companies nationwide; and raise funds to help in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

A recent AHA study shows that 70 percent of American adults report being told by a health care professional to make a lifestyle change. Take advantage at work today and begin a new healthy lifestyle to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Start! is sponsored nationally by Subway Restaurants and locally by PHP and Parkview Health.
