Parkview to host upcoming events

(August 30, 2010) – Parkview will host several upcoming events focused on diabetes, women’s health and cancer awareness.

Answers from a Cancer Expert – Each Friday in September (17, and 24) from 1-3 p.m. in the Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center lobby on the Parkview North campus, entrance 4 Receive easy-to-understand, practical answers to your cancer questions in one-on-one Q&A sessions with Nancy Ehmke, clinical nurse specialist, Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center. The programs below will be held at the Parkview Women’s Health Center on the Parkview North campus, entrance 2. Registration is required by calling (260) 672-6500.

Exercise and Wellness Classes

Senior Stretch – 9:30-10:30 a.m. each Monday Sept. 13-Nov. 1
Class routine includes chair, standing and floor exercises. Sessions focus on controlled stretching and muscle strengthening. The cost is $40 for Women’s Health Center members and $50 for non-members.

Evening Yoga – 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday Sept. 13-Nov. 3
Stretches and poses coupled with relaxed breathing renews a sense of calm, flexibility and strength. The cost is $80 for Women’s Health Center members and $100 for non-members.

Osteoporosis Screening
2-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. The screening lasts 15 minutes and can provide valuable information and help. The cost is $5 for Women’s Health Center members and $10 for non-members.

Vegetarian Gourmet
6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. Parkview dietitians will discuss how to prepare healthy vegetarian dishes. The cost is $10 for Women’s Health Center members and $20 for non-members.

Normal Sleep Patterns and Sleep Disorders Women Experience
6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28. Dr. Srinivasan Devanathan will discuss symptoms of sleep disorders and normal sleep patterns. In addition, guests will learn about risk factors and severity levels with various types of sleep disorders. The event is free for Women’s Health Center members and $5 for non-members.
