Calling all walkers!

This Saturday, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® organizers hope to break a Guinness Book world record.

This year, the walk is open to both men and women – the only requirement that you walk in high heels and be at least 18 years old.  It is preferred you obtain your shoes from the event organizers.  The last update I had was that 261 walkers had signed up, leaving 503 needed.  They need 764 to break the record.

Join us Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Headwaters Park East in downtown Fort Wayne.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes raises funds and awareness for the REACT program (formerly RAP) of the Women’s Bureau to stop rape and sexual assault.

This year we’ll be trying to set a world record and we need every man – and woman – we can get!

Registration begins at 7 a.m.

Opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

AND THIS JUST IN… ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE WALK A MILE ACTIVITIES WILL BE THE “WE Market for WAM”; WE – a.k.a. Women’s Enterprise – program of the Women’s Bureau that helps entrepreneurs realize their dreams. At 7:00a.m. the market opens and many current Women’s Enterprise clients will be selling their wares. It’s a BLOCK PARTY FOR THE WOMEN’S BUREAU AT HEADWATERS ON SEPTEMBER 11!
