Press release from the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo:

Zoo Rides $1 in September

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is offering its popular rides for just $1 each during the entire month of September.

Zoo guests can ride the Miniature Train, Endangered Species Carousel, River Ride, and Sky Safari for just one token instead of the regular price of two tokens. Tokens cost $1 each and are available at all ride locations. The offer does not include Pony Rides. No coupon is needed to take advantage of the discount.

“The zoo is beautiful in September,” says zoo director Jim Anderson. “We want to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy what the zoo has to offer.”

Rides are an important part of the zoo experience. “Not only are the rides fun for kids and adults, they let our visitors view nature and animals from different perspectives,” says Anderson. “Plus, they generate important revenue for the zoo.” As one of only 10 zoos nationwide receiving no tax dollars for operations, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo relies completely on its visitors and community supporters to stay in business, Anderson says.

The $1 ride offer will continue through September 30, 2010.

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is one of the area’s major attractions, drawing more than 500,000 visitors every year. The zoo was recently named one of the country’s “Top Ten Zoos for Kids” by Parents Magazine.

The zoo is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until October 10. Admission is $13 for adults, $8 for children age 2-14, and $10 for seniors over age 60. Babies age 1 and under and Zoo Society Members are admitted free.
