Public Invited to Big Pow-Wow
Mayor Henry to welcome families at 6:45 pm

(August 3, 2010) – Join Mayor Tom Henry, Parks & Recreation staff, campers and their families as they celebrate the end of the 64th summer for day camp at Franke Park with their annual Big Pow-Wow, Tuesday, August 10th. Mayor Henry will greet families at 6:45 pm and the Pow-Wow will begin at 7 pm.

Franke Park Day Camp has served generations of Fort Wayne residents, and emphasizes basic camping skills, nature education and Native American Lore. Campers and their families attend the Pow-Wow at the conclusion of all the summer sessions to celebrate the camp’s Native American theme and the camp’s traditions.

Look for the giant bonfire and join families in this bonding tradition. Highlights embrace authentic Native American dances, including a fire hoop dance performed by campers.
