Farnsworth items now on display at History Center
(July 28, 2010) – Recently acquired Farnsworth auction items are now on display at the History Center.
A large advertising banner, dated 1940 and reading in part “Farnsworth Radio…from the home of television” serves as the backdrop to the exhibit. The home of television in 1940 was considered to be Fort Wayne.
“This banner is significant because it dates from the first promotional year of the Farnsworth Radio and Television Corporation, a few months after Philo Farnsworth acquired Capehart and moved his operations to Fort Wayne in 1939,” said Todd Maxwell Pelfrey, History Center executive director.

Two temporary exhibits that featuring women’s fashions are also on display.
Admission to the History Center is free on Saturday mornings during the YLNI Barr Street Farmers Market, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until September 25.
Regular admission fees apply at all other times.
Miami Indian Heritage Days continues the first Saturday of the month at the Chief Richardville House, 5715 Bluffton Road, Fort Wayne, through November.
The August 7 program by Katrina Mitten will feature Native American bead work.
