IPFW announces Business School name change

Press release from IPFW:

IPFW Announces School Name Change

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne’s (IPFW’s) Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs William McKinney is pleased to announce a request to change the name of IPFW’s Richard T. Doermer School of Business and Management Sciences to the Richard T. Doermer School of Business was recently approved by both the Indiana University and Purdue University Boards of Trustees.

McKinney said the name change was requested to reflect changes in the academic programs offered in the school. It will be informally known as the Doermer School of Business.

Otto Chang, dean of the Doermer School of Business (DSB), favored the name change not only because it reflects the academic change, but because “We’re trying to build our brand recognition as a leader in Business Schools in northeast Indiana and the shorter name is a better marketing tool. We are grateful to Mr. Richard Doermer, in whose honor the school is named, for agreeing to this change.”

The Doermer School of Business is the only business school in northeast Indiana that is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-International (AACSB-International). Only 10 percent of business schools worldwide achieve this level of accreditation.
