Rock the River at IPFW RiverFest

(June 23, 2010) – Nine local bands will perform for an eager crowd on two entertainment stages on the east bank of the St. Joseph River at the Rockin’ the River event at IPFW RiverFest on June 26, starting at 4 p.m. and rocking until midnight. Novafall, the band selected through an online People’s Choice competition, is in the line-up at 9:05 p.m.

It is with great pride that IPFW RiverFest showcases the following Fort Wayne area musicians: The Kegels take the stage at 4 p.m.; Borrowed Time at 4:50 p.m.; Chris Worth at 5:40 p.m.; The Bergamot at 6:30 p.m.; Crush at 7:20 p.m.; Urban Legend at 8:15 p.m.; Novafall at 9:05 p.m.; Moser Woods and The Marnee Project at 10 p.m.; and Lee Miles and the Illegitimate Sons at 11:15 p.m.

Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy an amazing evening under the stars with live music, food, libations, and fireworks at dusk. Rockin’ the River is more than just rock bands—it is an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate Fort Wayne’s rivers. “For a first-year event, we could not have imagined such immense support and interest—and the entire night of entertainment is free!,” said Mark T. Carboni, entertainment chair for Rockin’ the River.

The IPFW RiverFest is presented by Steel Dynamics in partnership with Fort Wayne Friends of the Rivers. The entire community is invited to the IPFW campus for RiverFest 2010—a day of festivity and celebration for one of Fort Wayne’s most prominent natural resources, our rivers. Families can enjoy nature, history, sports, water activities, and art, while music enthusiasts can enjoy performances throughout the day and rock bands in the evening until midnight. This event will stimulate interest in preserving our city’s rivers and support the initiatives of the Fort Wayne Friends of the Rivers.

Other RiverFest events include the RiverWalk/Run; FamilyFest hands-on activities and games; ArtFest Rivers and Bridges of Northeast Indiana Exhibition and Fine Arts and Craft Sale; RiverRaces, RiverRides and RiverShow; RiverFeast food concessions and the YLNI Barr Street Market.
