New Principals appointed for Price, Northcrest

(June 15, 2010) – The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, June 14, approved the appointment of new principals for Northcrest and Price elementary schools for the 2010-11 school year.

Steven M. Jones, Price Elementary
Steve Jones will be the new principal of Price Elementary School, replacing William Critell, who is moving to St. Joseph Central Elementary. Jones started with Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2006 as the principal of Northcrest Elementary, the position he currently holds. He started his education career at Hobart Middle School in 1995. He remained in Indiana for six years teaching in Hobart, Middlebury and Goshen, before moving to Fort Collins, Colo., where he taught at McGraw Elementary IB World School for three years before being named principal of Sun River Middle School and Fort Shaw Elementary School in Montana. He was later named principal of Simms High School, also in Montana.

Dawn Starks, Northcrest Elementary
Dawn Starks, who is now principal of Washington Elementary, will take over at Northcrest Elementary as Steve Jones moves to Price. Starks joined FWCS in 1991 as a substitute teacher. The next year, she received a full-time position as a teacher in the District. As a teacher, she worked at Abbett, Lindley, Adams and Price. She served as an administrative intern during the 2005-06 school year, and became assistant principal of Weisser Park Elementary in 2006. In 2007, she became the leader of Washington Elementary.
