$1.00 Soft Drink and Beer Specials Added to Monday’s Midwest League All-Star Home Run Derby
Day one’s lineup of Midwest League All-Star activities bolstered by addition of drink specials.
Tickets still available for both the Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s Midwest League All-Star Game.(June 18, 2010) – The TinCaps have announced that Monday, June 21st the Midwest League Skills Competition and Home Run Derby will feature $1.00 beer and $1.00 soft drinks in addition to all of the first night All-Star festivities taking place at Parkview Field.
“We wanted to make sure we took care of our great fans,” said TinCaps President, Mike Nutter. “There’s a reason why Fort Wayne always ranks at the top of the best Minor League cities in the country. This community supports its teams and special events that come to town. The Midwest League Home Run Derby is a chance for fans to see the best of the best of Minor League Baseball’s top prospects all in one place. We want to show the other fifteen cities in our league what Fort Wayne is all about.” When asked why the TinCaps added the drink specials, Nutter added, “What’s better than enjoying baseball and a warm summer night with a cold beverage in your hand?”
The evening will begin with pre-event autographs by the All-Stars and an exhibition Little League Home Run Derby. The Midwest League All-Stars will then take the field to show off their talent in a Skills Competition. Capping off the evening will be the Midwest League Home Run Derby featuring eight of the top power hitters in the league as well as a local high school qualifier, Garrett High School senior Spencer Burns, who was the winner of the Hometown Hitter contest. The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks show.
Gates will open at 5:05 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come early to get autographs or to pick out a prime spot to catch all of the action.
