Jack Hammer hired as Interim Executive Director for Three Rivers Festival
The Three Rivers Festival Executive Board announced its appointment of local media figure Jack Hammer as interim executive director for the Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival, which runs July 9-17, 2010.
Hammer will serve in the position for a period of two months to help oversee the final details for the 2010 Festival and assist with the Festival wrap-up. He had already been serving the Festival as a member of its Entertainment Committee.
Hammer is a well-known local media personality, with more than 20 years experience in northeast Indiana media. He’s been involved on many board and fundraising activities and has helped in the planning of many large Fort Wayne events, including the 1996 Fort Wayne Bicentennial celebration.
“This is a natural fit for the Festival,” Dave Bleke, acting president of the Festival, said. “Hammer has been active in the Festival for many years, in addition to having volunteered with the staff and board members this year. He is also well respected in our community. We’re very excited to welcome him to this important position as the festival draws closer.”
“I look forward in helping to create new memories for the next generation of Three Rivers Festival attendees,” Hammer added. “My family has been in Fort Wayne for more than a century, so I am proud to call this city my home and proud to help guide one of its most well-known institutions.”
About the Three Rivers Festival
Founded in 1969, the Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival is Indiana’s second-largest summer festival and an annual 9-day celebration of Northeast Indiana. Events include a televised parade, a fine arts show, crafters’ market, children’s and senior’s mini-fests, live entertainment, food and beverage concessions, a home and lifestyle marketplace and a fireworks finale.
