Fort Wayne native enters race for Mark Souder’s congressional seat

Vowing to “fight for Indiana’s 3rd congressional district,” 28-year old Joe Schomburg of Fort Wayne announced that he is running for Mark Souder’s U.S. House seat.

“Washington is out of control. When elected to Congress, I promise to use a fresh perspective to uphold the values of Hoosiers across the district,” said Schomburg. “Congress is failing the American people, and they are driving up the debt on future generations without even reading the bills they propose.”

 

About Joe Schomburg
Joe Schomburg has been a resident of Fort Wayne, Spencerville, and Churubusco. He attended Saint Jude’s Catholic grade school, Eastside High School, and Bishop Dwenger High School.

Following high school, he worked in sales at Classic Stereo & Video and as a manager at UPS. While working both jobs concurrently, he began to attend classes part-time at Ivy Tech Community College in pursuit of a nursing degree. He became a full time student at IPFW and subsequently obtained his B.S. in Nursing from New York University in 2009. Since then, Joe has started graduate school at Duke University’s Nursing and Health Care Administration.

Joe’s dedication to learning underscores his belief that a strong education is vital for the future of America. As a member of Congress, he will focus on improving education for all ages and making college accessible to any American that seeks it. His years of experience in the medical field have given him a first-hand look at the problems facing the country’s health care system. Joe opposes President Obama’s government takeover of health care and believes the current bill will only decrease the quality of care for patients and increase the financial burden on businesses.

Joe brings a young, much-needed energy to the race for Indiana’s third congressional district. Joe’s fresh perspective will directly support Hoosiers and not the special interests that most candidates must appease. His families (Talarico and Schomburg) have extensive political experience in Fort Wayne, showing him the importance of bringing honesty to politics.

Joe is a strong conservative who is committed to bringing his conservative values to Washington at a time when government is failing to work for the American people. When elected to Congress, Joe will aim to reduce the size of government, repeal the healthcare bill, promote job creation, lessen the tax burden on businesses, cut wasteful spending, improve education, and reform the tax code.
