Press release from the Downtown Improvement District:

DID Presents Second Drop Your Avant Garde to Support Downtown Businesses & the Arts

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from February’s event, the Downtown Improvement District (DID) is launching the second presentation of the event titled DROP YOUR AVANT GARDE: Breaking Down the Barriers to the Art World, on June 12, 2010.

This June patrons are invited to come downtown to change the way they think about art, and the places where art can be found. Join the DID and Comcast for art, live music, food and drink specials, and more as we create four NEW unique art exhibits in unconventional urban spaces.

“We had over 2,500 people on Calhoun Street during a cold February evening at the last Drop Your Avant Garde,” DID event coordinator Samantha Sawyer said. “We expect to see even more people this time around—That’s great for visitors, that’s great for businesses and that’s great for downtown.”

Drop Your Avant Garde will again feature four pop-up art galleries on the 800 block of Calhoun Street. These venues include 816 Pint & Slice, Dash-In, Loaf ‘n Ladle and Ryan Hadley Studio. These locations will have new art, live music and food and drink specials. For more information, visit www.downtownfortwayne.com.
