Ryan Elijah’s issued statement from yesterday

Statement from Ryan Elijah, 3rd District House candidate, delivered at the Allen County Republican Headquarters in Fort Wayne yesterday:

Ryan Elijah officially kicked off his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, 3rd District on Tuesday, May 25th with a series of five media events.

Dozens of supporters were on hand at Allen County Republican Headquarters as Elijah vowed to continue conservative leadership in Northeast Indiana. The long-time television anchor said he is overwhelmed by the growing support he has received. He stressed that some precinct voters have told him he offers the Republican Party the best chance to move forward. Elijah said, “Voters want trust restored in government. I feel I have earned that from many in this community through years of service, many times dealing directly with Federal issues that a Congressman must be able to deal with on a daily basis.”

The Elijah for Congress campaign continued the day in Goshen, with an event at Elkhart County Republican Headquarters. Elijah vowed to fight for conservative values and to focus on jobs in a region that has been hit hard by the recession. Elijah also pointed out projects involving Federal funding should be a top priority for the new Congressman. He specifically cited the upgrade to US 31 in the South Bend area.

A Fort Wayne native, Ryan has spent the past sixteen years as an award winning TV anchor.  During that time, he created the consumer segment, ‘In Your Corner’,  designed to address and help solve viewer problems.  His efforts resulted in more than $100,000 being returned to consumers.

During his time in Jacksonville, he was appointed by the Mayor to serve on the “Mayor’s Council”. Ryan attended Liberty University, before graduating from Anderson University where he studied Mass Communications and Political Science. Ryan, his wife and two boys are active in their church and host many charity functions throughout the year.
