Taste of Waynedale Feeds Area Hungry
(May 3, 2010) – A crowd of over 600 people sampled the delectable fare from 26 local restaurants and businesses last month at the 2010 Taste of Waynedale sponsored and hosted by Kingston Residence. And, while no one left that evening feeling hungry, the event raised over $7,500 through ticket sales and proceeds from a silent auction that will go a long way toward feeding hungry people in northeast Indiana. This was the second year for the event held to benefit Community Harvest Food Bank.
“We are so grateful to Kingston Residence and all of the hard work they put in to pull off this wonderfully successful community event,” said Jane Avery, executive director Community Harvest Food Bank. “The vendors make a significant donation in terms of the food and staff-time and businesses donate wonderful items for the silent auction. Clearly Taste of Waynedale is a hit with all those who attend. What a great event!”
“Over the past 25 years, the staff and residents of Kingston Residence have taken pride in giving back to the Waynedale community,” said Erin Floyd, executive director Kingston Residence. “We love opening up our doors and inviting the neighborhood to join us for events and functions such as Taste of Waynedale, that make this community even stronger.”
“Waynedale Pizza Hut was proud to participate in the Taste of Waynedale,” said Kelli Baumgarner, Manager Waynedale Pizza Hut. “We feel it is a great way to get our new products recognized and a way for us to give back to the community. We look forward to next year.”
Those living at Kingston Residence and their families also got to enjoy the food offerings. “I think the event was wonderful,” said Mag Peterson, Kingston resident. “My family came and enjoyed themselves. They said to put them down for next year. The silent auction was really neat. I know the event was a lot of work to put on but well worth it.”
