Komets clip Generals 3-2 to take 1-0 Finals lead Game 2 Monday in Fort Wayne

For the third straight year the Komets won game 1 of the Finals in Fort Wayne defeating the visiting Flint Generals 3-2 in front of 8,089 at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period it only took 1:18 into the second stanza for Fort Wayne’s Justin Hodgman to put the Komets on the board first on the power play. Flint answered with the man advantage at 3:18 with John Ronan’s fifth of the playoffs. Jamie Schaafsma put the Generals on top 2-1 at 8:54. Fort Wayne’s Justin Chewedoruk solved Flint’s Rob Nolan at 13:34 to send the game into the second intermission tied at 2.

The only goal of the third period was Guy Dupuis’ second game winning mark of the playoffs to give Fort Wayne a a 3-2 win and 1-0 Finals lead.

Nick Boucher earned his fourth straight post-season win for the Komets making 22 saves while Rob Nolan suffered his third post-season loss stopping 28 of 31 Fort Wayne shots.
