Press release from the Brandon Seifert for Lake Township Board campaign:

Lake Township Board nominee Brandon Seifert to host forum on Township Government at 816 Pint and Slicea

Republican nominee for Lake Township Board Brandon Seifert will host a forum on Township government on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at 816 Pint and Slice in downtown Fort Wayne. Brandon will discuss the merits of township government in light of the impending attacks on the form of local government.

“Township government is at the heart of our community, and before taking drastic action at the Statehouse; our community should understand the impact that township government’s elimination will have on each of us.” Seifert said.

Seifert commented that there are many misperceptions about township government, and that he hoped this forum would further the dialogue of the value of having government closest to the people.

The event is open to anyone interested in attending, and is not limited to those strongly in the “township camp.” Casey Cox, a local attorney and friend of Seifert’s admitted that he has been a skeptic, but he’s open minded:

“I’m one who thinks we need a close examination of township government’s role in our political system. That’s not to say I think we should abolish it necessarily, but I’d be interested in learning more about its merits.”

The event is open to the public.
