FWCS appoints new administrators for 2010-11 school year

(April 27, 2010) – The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, April 26, approved two administrative changes for the 2010-11 school year.

Carrie Kennedy, Nebraska Principal
Carrie Kennedy joined FWCS in 2001 as a math and science teacher at Lane Middle School. During the 2008-09 school year, she served as an administrative intern at Nebraska Elementary School and Memorial Park Middle School. During the 2009-10 school year, she has served as principal at Pleasant Center Elementary. Kennedy started her career in education as a seventh-grade science teacher at Indianapolis Public Schools and worked as a fifth-grade teacher for four years in MSD Pike Township. At Nebraska, she replaces Federa Smith, who is moving to Adams Elementary.

Steven Townsend, Wayne High School Athletic Director
Steven Townsend began his career in education in Muncie in 1984 and worked for several years at schools in Florida before coming to FWCS in 2002 as an assistant principal at South Side High School. In 2005, he moved to a principal position in Kokomo and returned to South Side as an assistant principal in 2006. In 2008, he became athletic director at Elmhurst High School. At Wayne, he replaces Tim Burton, who is moving to the athletic director position at South Side.
