Parkview Health and Early Childhood Alliance Launch Child Care/Education Partnership

(April 15, 2010) Parkview Health and Early Childhood Alliance (ECA) have partnered on a new business model to continue to provide quality child care on the Parkview Randallia campus. Under this model, operations and management of the former Educare program have transitioned to ECA. The partnership between the two entities will also allow for expanded resource and educational outreach available at Parkview facilities throughout the region.

“ECA has an excellent reputation in the community and specializes in providing comprehensive early childhood services,” said Sue Ehinger, chief operating officer, Parkview Hospital. “Parkview is committed to the growth and development of young people in the community. We believe this new model will be a tremendous benefit to the community, allowing access to quality early childhood education for more families.”

As part of ECA’s resource and referral services, it will partner with Parkview to offer parent support programs and lunch and learn sessions to Parkview co-workers and the community at-large at Parkview’s community hospitals.

“Our mission at ECA is to build better futures for young children and to ensure that all children have the opportunity to participate in quality early education programs,” said Madeleine Baker, executive director, Early Childhood Alliance. “We are well-positioned as a northeast Indiana regional training and education resource for parents and child care professionals, a role model and an advocate for quality early care and education. Our partnership with Parkview demonstrates a strategic alliance that will be a win-win for all.”

Parkview considered various child care models over the past several years and determined that ECA was in the best position to operate the child care program on the Randallia campus. Parkview has leased its facility, located at 2125 Beacon St., to ECA for a nominal fee and will continue to maintain the facility. Operations transitioned to ECA on March 1, 2010. ECA is a state-licensed and nationally accredited child care provider and operates with similar high-quality curriculum and services as the former Educare program. There are currently openings for new families. For information on openings, contact ECA at (260) 399-2331.
