Press release from the Downtown Improvement District:

DID Presents “Bright Night”

WHAT: Bright Night
WHEN: Thursday, April 8th
WHERE: Downtown Fort Wayne

The Downtown Improvement District (DID) would like to announce “Bright Night”, an event concurrent with the opening night of the TinCaps on April 8th, 2010. Downtown businesses and property owners have been asked to keep their lights on to allow visitors to see, literally and figuratively, downtown Fort Wayne in a new light.

“Bright Night” commemorates not only the first game of the season at Parkview Field but recalls the first major league game (played in Fort Wayne by the Kekiongas in 1871) and the first recorded night game (played by the Kekiongas in 1883).

In anticipation of this visual experience, the DID is also hosting a Bright Night Photo Contest, open to all local photographers (amateur and professional), to capture the best images of our downtown and all of its great architecture, nightlife, and energy. In the words of DID President Rich Davis, this is “…a time to come together, to celebrate Fort Wayne’s baseball legacy, and to re-imagine our city as it should be.”

Photo Contest Prizes:

1st prize: $500
2nd prize: $300
3rd prize: $200
People’s Choice: $100

Please join us on April 8th to experience Fort Wayne’s downtown in a whole new way with “Bright Night” and the TinCaps at Parkview Field.
