Press release from Parkview Health:
Parkview to participate at Doctors’ Day event
(March 3, 2010) Parkview Health will participate in the 15th annual Doctors’ Day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 6 at Science Central, 1950 N. Clinton St.
Doctors’ Day features free admission for the entire family. Participants will learn about careers in the medical field and enjoy interactive displays, demonstrations, a tour of the Parkview Samaritan helicopter, and giveaways and prizes.
Parkview Community Health Improvement registered nurses will administer free seasonal flu vaccines for healthy children ages 2 to 18. The nasal spray FluMist® will be used. Parents are required to fill out a consent form prior to the administration of the spray. Forms will be available at the event and online at www.parkview.com and by clicking on the events tab.
In addition, Parkview will provide free vision screenings for children. Parkview uses a PediaVision® mobile system, which is computerized technology that offers more advanced screenings. The system uses a hand-held infrared camera that takes a digital photo of the eye in only a few seconds. The screening can be done on children as young as six months and can test for six different vision problems.
Doctors’ Day is presented by the Fort Wayne Medical Society Alliance.
