What’s in a Rain Garden?
Find Out at a FREE Open House Workshops Start Next Week

(February 25, 2010) City Utilities will host an open house to provide general information about the rain garden program. It’s a chance to answer questions for people who may want to attend a rain garden workshop but want to know more before they sign up.

The open house will take place on Thursday March 4, 2010. Residents can drop by anytime between 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the event in the Water Maintenance Training Room located at 415 East Wallace Street. The event is FREE.

At the open house residents can:

  • Talk with City staff about what a rain garden is and if it could work in your yard
  • See pictures of rain gardens installed in Fort Wayne last year
  • See the material that will be used in the workshops
  • Meet the workshop facilitators
  • Learn more about rain garden plants
  • Find out about how you may be able to get cash or free plants from the City to help install your garden
  • Register for a workshop
  • The City’s rain garden workshops begin next week.

  • Saturday, April 24 Southwest Allen County Fire Station 8:30 – Noon
  • Thursday, April 29 Public Safety Academy – Room 1202 8:30 – Noon
