Press release from the American Red Cross:

Cookie Cottage Sweetens Blood Donation Opportunity
Cookie Cottage & U.S. 93.3 sponsor ‘Life is Sweet’ Blood Drive

Make your life sweeter by giving others the gift of life this February. All presenting donors during the American Red Cross Life is Sweet Blood Drive will receive a Cookie Cottage cookie and will be entered into a drawing to win one of two pairs of tickets to the Martina McBride/Trace Adkins concert on Feb. 25 at the Memorial Coliseum. Concert tickets are compliments of U.S. 93.3.

The Life is Sweet Blood Drive will take place at two convenient locations in Fort Wayne from Friday, Feb. 19 until Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Fort Wayne Donor Center: 1212 E. California Road (across from the Memorial Coliseum)

  • Friday, Feb. 19 & Saturday, Feb. 20: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, Feb 21: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 22 & Tuesday, Feb. 23: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Lutheran Hospital Donor Center: 7900 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 107 (in the South Lobby of Lutheran Hospital):

  • Friday, Feb. 19 & Saturday, Feb. 20: 6 a.m. – 12 noon
  • Sunday, Feb 21: by appointment only
  • Monday, Feb. 22 & Tuesday, Feb. 23: 12 noon – 6 p.m.

Consistent and steady blood donations are needed year-round to meet patient need. And while the need for blood is constant, blood donations can sometimes slump. Collecting blood during the winter, for instance, often presents a challenge since cold and snowy weather can prevent donors from making and keeping appointments.

You can help save lives and enjoy sweet treats at this year’s Life is Sweet Blood Drive. Make your blood or platelet donation appointment today!

How to Donate Blood
To schedule an appointment to donate please call 1 -800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for more information. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
