January Classes for Adults
Deadlines Approaching

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is offering the following classes for adults to chase away the winter blahs:

Ballroom Dancing, Mondays, Jan 25 – March 3, 7:30 – 8:30 pm or Thursdays, Jan 28 – March 4, 7:30 – 8:30 pm
Be the first one on the floor when the music fills the air! You’ll learn the Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Polka and Tango, and in just a few weeks you’ll be dancing with confidence, grace and maybe even a little “attitude.” You must register with a partner for this class. Instructors: Fred and Tiffany Neuls. Registration deadline: Jan. 21. Fee: $35 per person. Location: Franke Park Pavilion #1, Sherman Blvd.

Introduction to Oil Painting, Mondays, Jan. 25 – Feb. 8, 6 – 8:30 pm
Introduction to Oils is for new painters. You will learn basic skills as you complete two 8″ x 10″ paintings. An oil kit (yours to keep) will be provided for you. Instructor Marilyn Copeland is a nationally certified and accredited art instructor. Registration deadline: Jan. 18. Fee: $69. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Sudoku Puzzle Quilt, Mondays, Jan. 25 – March 1, 5:30 – 8:30 pm
As a hobby, quilting is practical, relaxing, creative and fun. This is a fun quilt to make even if you don’t do Sudoku puzzles. The object in Sudoku is to fill a grid with the numbers 1 to 9 so that each row, column, and box contains each number only once. In this delightful quilt, fabrics take the place of the numbers, with each fabric appearing only once per column, row, and block! The finished quilt is 40 1/2″ square and consists of nine “nine-patch” squares. There will be a variety of fabrics to choose from, or you may bring your own. Please bring your own sewing machine, if possible. We have a limited number on hand. A supply list will be provided when you register. Registration deadline: Jan. 19. Fee: $59. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Beginning Balloon Decorating, Wednesdays, Jan. 27 – Feb. 3, 6 – 9 pm
Balloons are a fun, inexpensive way to celebrate any occasion. Whether it’s a simple colorful bouquet or a “themed” design to wish someone a Happy Birthday or Get Well wishes, balloons can get your message across. Certified balloon artist Kathie Kiker will share tips, tricks and techniques of balloon decorating. Working with various types of balloons, you will learn how to make a balloon float 4-times longer than normal and use various accessories to create a unique balloon bouquet. The bouquet you create is yours to keep. You must take this class to attend any of the specialty balloon classes. Registration deadline: Jan. 20. Fee: $43. Location: Community Center, 233 W. Main St.
