Talking about challenges faced in 2009, that 2010 will be just as challenging.  “My door is always open to you…we need to work together.”

Request for designation comes from the current owners.  It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  8-0 in favor.

Mike Kester and Doug Phasic (sp?) are before the Council.  This will automate the pump operation to prevent overflows.  Currently, personnel has to manually turn the pumps on.  This bid was $36,000 below the next bid and $17,000 below the engineer’s estimate.  There were three bids.

Councilman Tim Pape is asking why this is a good value.  During rains, lime  content increases causing additional sludge to be passed through to later stages of treatment.  This adds increased costs to treatment chemicals.  Response – There are three different places where personnel have to visit, this will centralize it.

Councilman Mitch Harper – expected life?  Response – 25 years.

Councilwoman Liz Brown – used Black and Beach (?) for outside consulting.

Councilman Marty Bender – What happens when flooding occurs?  Equipment is damaged.  Could be hundreds of thousands of dollar.

Approved 8-0 in favor.
