Mad Ants Invade New York!

The Mad Ants have again made national news headlines, appearing last week in the New York Times in an article about head coach Joey Meyer written by fellow Midwesterner Dan McGrath. Here is a short excerpt:

“By car it is 166 miles to central Indiana and a job coaching the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the N.B.A. Development League. In basketball terms, it’s 4-point-shot distance.

“My wife and my sister were down from Chicago for our opener,” said Meyer, who rents an apartment in Fort Wayne. “We lost, but they thought the game presentation was very nice.”

Indeed, loud music, a boisterous public-address announcer, an energetic dance troupe and nonstop promotional gimmickry lend an N.B.A. feel to a Mad Ants game.”
