Press release from the City of Fort Wayne:

City, County create joint websites for bid opportunities
Companies, individuals can sign up for e-mail updates for new bids posted

The City of Fort Wayne and Allen County have launched a joint service showing City and County bid opportunities at both entities’ websites. Businesses and individuals can also sign up for e-mail updates about new bids.

The two websites, available at bidding.cityoffortwayne.org and bidding.allencounty.us, list available bid opportunities for the City’s Public Works Department, Allen County Highway Department, City Utilities, City and County Purchasing and other City and County departments.

“By having the City and County post bid opportunities simultaneously at both websites, we are making it easier for companies to do business with local government,” Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry said. “The more businesses we have participating in the bid process, the more likely City and County government will get the most competitive price. It’s a win for everyone: businesses, local government and the taxpayers.”

Some of the bid opportunities include the bid documents available for download from the site. All listings have the specific department plus the appropriate contact information. For bids going through the City’s Board of Works, the listings show the companies who bid and their price after they are opened.

The County’s Purchasing Department and City’s Purchasing Department collaborated with Public Works and IT contractor ATOS Origin to develop the joint sites, which went live last month.

“This is another example of the willingness of Fort Wayne and Allen County to work together on best practices in purchasing,” said Allen County Commissioner Bill Brown.

Individuals and companies can sign up at the website for a daily or weekly update of new bid opportunities.
