North Side students make Christmas bright for children with cancer

Press release from Fort Wayne Community Schools:

North Side students make Christmas bright for children with cancer

North Side High School students and staff are preparing for the 22nd Annual Christmas Party for Kids Surviving Cancer and their families from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at North Side. North Side students work with Cancer Services of Allen County to support the families of children with cancer as they deal with the day-to-day financial and emotional struggles of having a child with cancer.

Students will shop for gifts for the cancer survivors and their siblings at Meijer on Lima Road from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2. They will be wrapping the gifts after school (2:40 p.m.) on Thursday, Dec. 3.

The students and staff raise money from others in the building as well as ask for support from outside organizations. The party on Sunday gives the children an opportunity to meet the high school students involved and enjoy food and entertainment.
