Fresh bread donated to feed area hungry

Press release from Community Harvest Food Bank:

Fresh Bread Donated to Feed Area Hungry

Community Harvest Food Bank received 2,000 loaves of freshly baked Holsum Sof-Twist Bread last week from Holsum Bakery in Fort Wayne, a division of Lewis Bakeries. The donation was delivered to help Community Harvest and its network of 460 member agencies keep up with the 30 percent increase in demand they are experiencing this holiday season after seeing the same increase last year.

“People want to have fresh bread for their families. It’s a healthy choice that many of those experiencing food insecurity are unable to access,” said Jane Avery, Community Harvest executive director. “We are so grateful to the folks at Lewis Bakeries who stepped forward to help those in need. They are great caring corporate partners who understand that it takes everyone to build a healthy community. And a healthy community helps build a healthy economy.”
