CANI asks community members to consider leaving a legacy

Press release release from CANI:

CANI asks community members to consider leaving a legacy

Did you know you can make the world a better place by leaving a charitable gift (called a bequest) in your Will to your favorite charity?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be fabulously wealthy to leave a charitable bequest. You don’t have to own stocks and bonds. You don’t even have to have a lot of property or a big bank account. You just have to have a cause you care about and want to support. Even a small gift can make a big difference.

CANI has signed up to be a partner in the Planned Giving Council of Northeast Indiana’s 2009 “LEAVE A LEGACY” campaign. LEAVE A Legacy is a public awareness effort designed to inspire people from all walks of life and all income levels to think beyond their lifespan when doing good works.

The Planned Giving Council has embraced this campaign and is encouraging community members of all ages to consider writing a will prepared with a charitable bequest. Specifically, through “WRITE A WILL” week, and the generosity of volunteer attorneys, donors can meet with a lawyer and have a simple will prepared for free if a bequest to a charity is included in the will.

CANI will have a lawyer on site:

  • November 9: 1 – 3 p.m.
  • November 10: 5 – 7 p.m.
  • November 13: 9 – 11 a.m.

Those interested in having a will prepared are asked to make an appointment by calling CANI Development Supervisor, Jennifer Renner at (260)399-4103.

Participants are asked to complete an intake form prior to the appointment. For more information or to download the intake form, see CANI’s Web site.

CANI helps communities, families, and individuals remove the causes and conditions of poverty. For more information about CANI and the services provided, see CANI’s Web site.
