Pregnant women can get H1N1 shot Tuesday at Carew while supplies last
The clinic will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. while supplies last. The vaccine is free.The health department has received about 120 single-dose vials of H1N1 injectable vaccine and is reserving it for pregnant women. The vaccine does not contain thimerosal. Pregnant women are at increased risk for serious complications from H1N1 flu and are considered a priority group for vaccination by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More H1N1 flu vaccine, both nasal spray and injectable vaccine, is expect to arrive later this week. The department will announce additional clinics at that time.
More than 7,400 people have been vaccinated for H1N1 flu since the clinic opened on Oct. 9. Parkview Health is providing space for the clinic at Carew Medical Park, a three-story building located at 1818 Carew St.
Anyone experiencing symptoms of influenza should stay home and contact a health care provider. People can also limit the spread of flu by covering their cough and washing their hands.
