Children and pregnant women can get H1N1 vaccine Monday at Carew clinic while supplies last

Press release from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health:

Children and pregnant women can get H1N1 vaccine Monday at Carew clinic while supplies last

Pregnant women and children up through age 18 can get the H1N1 flu vaccine Monday at the Carew Medical Park.

There will be no clinic on Sunday. The clinic will be open Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or as long as supplies last. No appointment is necessary.

For now, the H1N1 injectable vaccine offered at Carew will be reserved for pregnant women and children six months through 18 years of age.

The seasonal flu vaccine is no longer available.

Parkview Health is providing space for the clinic at Carew Medical Park, a three-story building located at 1818 Carew Street. You can access Carew Street either from Lake Avenue or East State Boulevard. Parking is available in an attached garage. The vaccines are free. Children under age 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

More than 4,800 people have been vaccinated for H1N1 flu since the clinic opened on Oct. 9.

Anyone experiencing symptoms of influenza should stay home and contact a health care provider.
