Press release from the American Red Cross:

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Hallmark Homes Host a Joint American Red Cross Blood Drive

On Oct. 21, 2009 the lives of one central Indiana family will change forever as they find out they are selected to have their house radically changed by the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team.

In addition, the American Red Cross is teaming up with Indiana’s Extreme Makeover Home Builder Hallmark Homes to host a blood drive in honor of the deserving family. The owners and employees of Hallmark Homes are long term, dedicated blood donors. Sponsoring a blood drive in conjunction with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was a way Hallmark could extend assistance to the entire community.

The blood drive will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the construction site from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. All presenting donors will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a coupon good for one free Mike’s carwash while supplies last. The location of the build site will be announced on October 21 and you can visit www.hallmarkextreme.com that morning for directions to the build site. Plus, monetary donations will be accepted on behalf of the family throughout the week of construction.

“It’s incredible when thousands of people come together for something bigger than themselves,” said Derek Wilder, the CEO of Hallmark Homes. “Helping others in so many different ways not only changes their lives but our lives as well.”

To schedule an appointment to donate at this very special blood drive call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit givelife.org. You can also attend a special volunteer pep rally to find out more about the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition event on Friday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Oakbrook Church in the parking lot, located at 3409 S. 200 W. in Kokomo.

Hallmark Homes is one of the largest, on-your-lot custom home builders in the Midwest. Having built more than 1,000 homes since 1992, Hallmark Homes provides service, quality control, scheduling and warranty services. They are also recipients of the 2008 Keystone Award and 2008 Residential Warranty National Award of Distinction. For more information, visit www.hallmarkhomes.com.

Each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months, involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who have just seven days (one week for the actual construction) to rebuild an entire house – every room, the exterior and landscaping.

There will also be an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Hallmark Homes joint blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Indiana University Kokomo in the Kelley Student Center from 12 noon until 6 p.m. IUK is located at 2300 S. Washington in Kokomo. All presenting donors at this blood drive will also receive a commemorative t-shirt and a coupon good for one free Mike’s carwash while supplies last. Plus, all presenting donors will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a $50 gasoline gift card. Please go to givelife.org and enter sponsor code “iukokomo” to schedule your blood donation appointment.
