Notes from the Fort Wayne City Council Budget Hearing on October 6, 2009.

Legal Public Hearing for the Budget: no one from the public spoke.

Resumed at 7:45 pm.

City Clerk Sandy Kennedy is presenting her budget.  Official records down $4,200.  Total overall increase $17,206.

Official records dropped significantly.  It’s the account for the supplements in the City Code book distributed to departments.  Not going to give them the copies.  Were going to give discs, however, not now.  City Council will be given electronically.

Karen Goldner – code is updated on the website?  Copies will be done in house.  Updated quarterly on-line.

Liz – Postage – for parking notices sent every 6-7 weeks.  Also Council mail.  Legal notices has gone up – state statute mandates this.  Cost has gone up.

Jim Haley is working on something.  New program for ordinance management.  Application extender.  Retreival, created just for the City.  City Utilities and several County offices are using it.  Document Management System.

Parking Enforcement

Eliminated 1 position in parking due to annexation.  Revues: violations – 418,000 collected; 2,850 bagged meters; 225,000 meter collections; animal control 7,900; zoning 1,800; solid waste 900; fwfd 4,450; smoking 350; fireworks 350; code enforcement, 7,500; false fwfd alarms 11,300; police 69,000.  754,000 total ordinance violations bureau.

no new vehicles until 2012.

first department to have hybrid vehicles – worked out very well.  Gas is down.
