Aunt Millie’s strike ends

The Aunt Millie’s strike has ended. Friday night Teamsters local #580 in Lansing and Teamsters local #164 in Jackson approved a contract with the company. They returned to work on Saturday. On Sunday morning Teamsters local #51 in Detroit approved a contract with the company. They returned to work today.

Employees involved were 120 route sales representatives, loaders and merchandisers from Aunt Millie’s sales branches in Dearborn, Mt. Clemens and White Lake, Michigan, that went on strike Sept. 3, and 100 route sales representatives from Aunt Millie’s sales branches in Adrian, Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Jackson, Lansing and Temperance, Michigan that went on strike Sept. 4.

Aunt Millie’s Bakeries is a family-owned company headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana since 1901. The company produces Aunt Millie’s bread and bakery products and other brands, which are distributed throughout the Midwest.

Aunt Millie’s employs about 1,700 people throughout our distribution territory. Over 80% of Aunt Millie’s employees are full-time with benefits. Approximately 65% of Aunt Millie’s employees are union members.
