Report dates set for electric utility

Press release from the Fort Wayne City Council:

Report dates set for electric utility
Council to hear from I&M, City in October

President of Fort Wayne City Council, Tom Smith, R-1st, has set a new date for the city administration to make a presentation to the City Council in regard to current discussions with Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) on possible changes to the electric utility for many Fort Wayne residents. The change was made to accommodate the pending mediation session set for September 23.

The representatives for I&M will come to City Council on Tuesday, October 6 at 5:30 pm; the city administration will give their report to Council the following Tuesday, October 13 at 5:30 pm.

President Smith states that he “feels strongly that citizens should hear from both sides in this issue because many residents need a full understanding of what will be happening in the event that a new electric utility takes over services. We have all learned over the past several years that the people need to have full disclosure regarding issues that can have a great impact on them.”

City Council meetings are held in room 126-128 of the City-County Building. All meetings are open to the public. Parking is available in the adjacent garage. The meetings are also aired live at 5:30 pm on Comcast cable channel 58 or Verizon FIOS channel 28.
