Dense Fog Advisory early tomorrow morning

National Weather Service logo.

There’s a Dense Fog Advisory for our area from 3 am to 9 am.

…AREAS OF DENSE FOG THURSDAY MORNING…

Conditions are favorable for widespread fog with areas of dense fog with areas of dense fog to form overnight in Northern Indiana and Southern Lower Michigan. Clearing skies will allow for sufficient cooling to take place for water vapor in the air to condense and form fog. The moist ground and areas of light rainfall have added additional moisture at the surface. A stagnating airmass with light winds across the Southern Great Lakes will contribute to the favorable fog conditions.

Widespread fog will continue to develop overnight and is forecast to become dense in areas…especially between 4 and 7 am.  The fog will be most prevalent in outlying and rural areas…and near low lying bodies of water such as lakes…rivers and streams.  Visiblities will drop to one quarter mile or less in some locations so be alert for sudden reductions in visibility.  The fog is forecast to lift between 8 am and 9 am.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be less than one quarter mile.  If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.  Remain alert for stopped school buses Thursday morning.

Please note: some portions, mainly those of the counties affected listing, of the above alert were left out. View the full alert here.
