Two events at Old Fort Wayne cover both weekends of the Three Rivers Festival.
Siege of Fort Wayne 1812
July 11th and 12th
What is the Second War of Independence really about? The British had been beaten during the Revolutionary War and were no longer here. right? Come to the Old Fort on July 11th & 12th and learn why the War of 1812 has become the Forgotten War. Talk with the Soldiers as they go about their daily schedules, see the Women and Children as they complete their tasks. Meet with the Mounted Militia and hear how the militia were so important in the continuation of our freedom. The Old Fort will be open 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11th, and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th. For more information, either visit the website or call (260) 460-4763.
Camp Allen Muster 1861 – 1865
July 18th and 19th
Hear the cannons roar and the rifles and muskets fire, listen to the soldiers as they complete their drills, talk with the cooks who make the food for those who live at the Old Fort. Join the Civil War re-enactors at the Old Fort on Saturday, July 18th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday July 19th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., as they return to the time when families were divided. There will be soldiers and their families to talk with, as well as children games and various demonstrations to either participate in or observe.
