Press release from the Three Rivers Festival:
Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival is excited to announce two crowd-pleasing fun races during the 41st Three Rivers Festival.
The Waiter/Waitress Competition, presented by SYSCO, will pit teams of three food servers in a race of speed and accuracy to set a table after navigating obstacles. Each round will increase in levels of difficulty, as tables begin being set for breakfast, then finish for a seven-course meal. Cheer on your favorite local waiter or waitress, as they carry trays of water, dishes and utensils, hoping to win over $1,000 in cash and prizes!
The Waiter/Waitress Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. in Freimann Square on Monday, July 13. Team entry fee is $30; pre-registration is available on-line. Â The event is free for spectators.
You won’t have to wonder if you’re dreaming on Wednesday, July 15….there really WILL be beds flying down Main Street! The 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union BED RACE will delight spectators with fast and funny beds — all on wheels — as their five person teams parade down Main Street in front of the City-County Building, starting at 6:30. One bed rider and four teammates will be pushing, pulling or sprinting to the finish line, for over $1,200 in prizes.
The Bed Race team entry fee is $50; pre-registration is available on-line.  The event is free for spectators.
