Demolition of the former Dimension Ford dealership on Jefferson Boulevard is wrapping up.
The asphalt has been removed as well as the majority of the structure. Â The base of rock and stone that was under the asphalt will be left until the best way to handle the site is arrived at. Â To remove it now would expose the ground to rainwater which would wash some of the contamination on the site, from motor oils and such, into the nearby Junk Ditch ending up in the rivers.
The property is currently under the control of the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission. Once environmental clean up is completed, the property will be transferred to Parks and Recreation for implementation as possible wetlands or flood control efforts.
