Press release from the City:

Brownfield Development E-Newsletter to be distributed by the City of Fort Wayne

Have you ever wondered about the current status of Brownfield projects and local funding opportunities? Today the City of Fort Wayne’s Brownfield Team will send out its inaugural edition of The New Green is Brown e-newsletter.

Local stakeholders gathered during a forum entitled: The New Green is Brown: Finding New Opportunities in Brownfield Development to discuss local initiatives. This forum was responsible for the development of this e-newsletter so information could be shared more readily among real estate developers, local investors, attorneys, and other business leaders.

Mayor Tom Henry praised the effort to keep developers in the loop. “The City of Fort Wayne is always trying to find more ways to assist in the redevelopment of distressed properties. Sharing funding information and success stories is a good way to open the doors for Brownfield redevelopment dialogue,” he said.

Gary Lyman, City of Fort Wayne Brownfield Manager, commented, “We have over 30 brownfields currently accounted for, and that list grows as companies close down and new site conditions are discovered. The e-newsletter will allow the City to send information directly to stakeholders in a timely manner.”

The e-newsletter will be sent out twice a year and as important information needs to be shared. To subscribe to the e-newsletter, go to: www.cityoffortwayne.org and select The New Green is Brown E-news link.
