Press release from the City:
Home ownership education classes
City Offers Training to Homeowners & Those Considering Home OwnershipIn June 2009 the City of Fort Wayne will offer home ownership education classes. The 8 hour training is broken into two 4 hour sessions and covers the following topics:
Are you ready to buy a home?
- Managing your money.
- Understanding credit.
- Getting a mortgage loan.
- Sample forms and documents.
- Shopping for a home.
- Keeping your home and managing your finances.
- Homeowners insurance.
Those interested in attending the classes should pre-register by calling Kim Rodriguez at 427-2133 or email their registration (just their name and a contact phone number) to Kim.Rodriguez@cityoffortwayne.org. Registrants should call or email by June 11th or 18th at 5:00 PM.
“I’m very pleased that the City continues to offer its own classes on home ownership,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “The Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other housing programs require existing home owners or homebuyers to take 8 hours of training, but it’s worthwhile time spent. It’s a big investment, and we want to help people understand what responsibilities they will have once they own a home. Our neighborhoods thrive with strong homeowners.”
The June training sessions will be held on June 13th and 20th from 8am – 12 pm in the Omni Room of the City-County Building. Additional training sessions are scheduled and a complete listing can be found at the City’s NSP website.
