Today’s IPFW Remnant Trust Kick-off

No, it’s not Jill Long Thompson.  Rosie the Riveter and other historical figures were present at the Allen County Courthouse today to help kick off the Remnant Trust at IPFW.  The IPFW Remnant Trust exhibit includes more than 50 manuscripts, books, pamphlets, and documents on subjects related to individual liberty and human dignity.  IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell introduced Allen County Commissioner Linda Bloom and Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry who spoke briefly.  The IPFW University Singers sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful”.

Also in attendance was Allen County Commissioners Bill Brown and Nelson Peters, the Judges of the Allen County Superior Court, and historical re-enactors John Adams, Frederick Douglass, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Sir Isaac Newton, Rosie The Riveter and Mary Shelley.

John Adams gave a separate “critique” of John Trumbull’s famous painting of the signing of The Declaration of Independence.  Afterwards, Chancellor Wartell observed that, “…Adams always has to have the last word.”

Photos from the event are included here, while below is a video play list of the event.    Missing, is about two minutes of video.  I could not get a good clear shot of the re-enactors as they were introduced, so I omitted this section.
