Press release concerning front office expansion:

TinCaps Front Office Expanding
Twelve new full-time staff positions filled since 2008 season.
Team planning to make further staff additions.

The TinCaps have been busy expanding the front office in preparation for the additional needs of Fort Wayne’s newly constructed downtown ballpark. Twelve new TinCaps front office staff positions have already been filled with more announcements on future hires to be made soon. Once the front office has filled out its roster the TinCaps will have a total of 27 full-time staff members, more than double the number that operated the team previously at Memorial Stadium.

As part of the front office reconfiguration several existing personnel received promotions. Mike Nutter has been named TinCaps Team President, Brian Schackow has been given the title of Vice President of Sales and Finance, and David Lorenz has been promoted to Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. “Mike, Brian and David have been integral parts of the team’s success over the last several years,” said Jason Freier, CEO of Hardball Capital. “This restructuring gave us the opportunity to reward three individuals that were vital to our past success and we are happy that they will be able to play an even larger role in the future of the TinCaps.”

“Parkview Field will afford us the opportunity to do so many more and different events,” said Team President, Mike Nutter. “That, combined with the large anticipated increase in attendance at ball games, has caused us to significantly increase the size of the full time staff. In addition to the approximately 15 people we will be adding in full time positions, Parkview Field will also create hundreds of new part-time and seasonal jobs.”

MARKETING & SALES
Michael Limmer has rejoined the team in anticipation of Parkview Field and serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Promotions. Michael spent seven years with the team prior to enrolling in the Masters program in Sports Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill back in the Fall of 2006. In that capacity he implemented and managed marketing strategies with the UNC Athletic Department, including the Carolina Football and Men’s Basketball programs. The promise of Parkview Field allowed the team to lure Michael back to Fort Wayne this past May.

In addition, Chris Snyder comes on board as a Corporate Partnership Manager, Abigail Naas joins the TinCaps as Promotions Manager and Allan Wertheimer, will oversee Parkview Field’s electronic signage and video resources as the TinCaps Video Production Manager. In response to the increased demand for TinCaps merchandise and apparel, the team welcomes Karen Schieber as TinCaps Merchandise Manager. Tyler Baker also joins the team as a Ticket Sales Manager and Ryan Ledman takes the reins of the TinCaps successful school Reading Program.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Holly Raney has joined the TinCaps and will be overseeing special events at Parkview Field. In this role, Holly will organize and coordinate all non-baseball events including concerts, business and social club meetings and parties, weddings, community events and other use of the ballpark and its facilities. Holly brings a tremendous knowledge of Fort Wayne’s special events landscape and is excited about the opportunities that Parkview Field presents for unique and traditional events. The TinCaps have also retained, on a consulting basis, Barb Ahearn to assist Holly with the coordination of special events. Barb has over 20 years experience in the event planning field and will be an invaluable asset to the TinCaps organization.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
The food and beverage operation, which had been contracted out to a national company at Memorial Stadium, will now be run in house by the team’s newly created Fort Wayne-based catering affiliate. Joining the TinCaps to lead that new operation as Director of Food and Beverage is Bill Lehn. A 25-year veteran of food service, Lehn has worked with the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Garden as well as on assignment in NFL stadiums and at collegiate national championships. Bill and his family live in Fort Wayne and he has extensive experience in the Fort Wayne food service market. Additional food and beverage positions are still in the process of being filled.

FACILITIES
Charged with overseeing the Parkview Field facility for the team, Tim Burkhart has joined the TinCaps as the Director of Facilities after spending the past ten years with Weigand Construction. Chris Watson joins Burkhart on the facilities staff as Assistant Director of Facilities. Responsible for keeping the field in pristine condition, Mitch McClary joins the Fort Wayne staff as Director of Field Maintenance. McClary’s previous experience includes maintaining the playing surfaces for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Gary Railcats.

POSITIONS STILL TO BE FILLED
The TinCaps are still reviewing qualified candidates for at least three positions. The team is seeking an experienced accountant to serve as a Controller and handle tax and payroll matters as well as record keeping, financial reporting and cash management. Interested applicants should contact Brian Schackow with the TinCaps at (260) 482-6400 or via e-mail at schackow@TinCaps.com.

The TinCaps are also looking for two additional employees to add to their catering affiliate. “Bringing Parkview Field’s entire food service operation in house gives us the capabilities to offer a wider variety of menu options and assure that all of the food, both for TinCaps baseball games and for special events, are of the absolute top quality,” said Lehn. The TinCaps are currently accepting applications for a Head Chef and an Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. For more information about the positions and how to apply please contact Bill Lehn with the TinCaps at (260) 482-6400 or via email at Lehn@TinCaps.com.
